U2 kicks off their Experience + Innocence Tour at BOK Center, 5/2/18

On Wednesday, May 2, U2 played the opening night of their worldwide Experience + Innocence Tour at BOK Center. The band performed from a video screen-flanked stage that divided the audience in two lengthwise, and also from two stages at either end of the arena. During the opening number, “Love Is All We Have Left” from last year’s Songs of Experience, audience members were encouraged to watch the show through their smartphones using the band’s augmented reality app, which created the image of a larger-than-life Bono singing alongside his real-life counterpart. The show was particularly notable for its set list—which eschewed most of the band’s biggest hits, opting instead for rarely-performed deep cuts (including playing “Acrobat” from 1991’s Achtung Baby live for the very first time) as well as songs from the band’s recent albums.
